Festivities in honour of St. Andrew Apostle in Augusta

The festivities begin on 20 November with the first Solemn Mass in honour of St. Andrew in the church that bears his name. Two days later the so-called Triduo begins, that is, the period of time that includes the three days before festivities, during which more Solemn Masses are held for the Saint. The real public festivities begin at 8 am on 30 November in Augusta with a joyous pealing of bells to honour the patron saint of sailors. At 7pm, after the two Solemn Masses, the procession of the image of St. Andrew starts out through the streets of the city centre.
The Fish Festival – where you can sample all kinds of delicious seafood recipes and enjoy performances by local artists – also takes place in the historical centre during this same time.
